Chief Judicial Magistrate SA Pathan issued bail to Mumbai-based Azhari and local residents Mohammad Yousuf Malek and Azim Habib Odedara, who organized the religious event in Junagadh on January 31 where Azhari allegedly delivered an inflammatory speech.

The three accused were produced before the court after their one-day police remand ended at 4 pm, and they were subsequently sent to judicial custody. Their lawyers promptly filed pleas for regular bail, and after considering both sides, the court granted bail on a bond of Rs 15,000 each.

Mufti Salman Azhari was arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) from Mumbai on Sunday and brought to the state on a transit remand. This arrest was made in connection with an FIR registered against him and the event organizers after a video of his alleged inflammatory speech in Junagadh on January 31 went viral on social media.

The court, in imposing bail conditions, mandated that the accused cannot leave the country without permission, must not destroy evidence, and provide their residential addresses to the court. Azhari is also named as an accused in another FIR filed by the Kutch police for an alleged inflammatory speech at a religious function in Samakhiari town on the same day.

Azhari’s lawyer argued during the bail hearing that the words used in his speech did not target any specific community or cause adverse impacts, emphasizing the need for his release. The case has sparked debates over free speech and the interpretation of inflammatory language.
