In a shocking turn of events, the Birmingham Police Department announced on Wednesday night that seven individuals have been arrested in connection to the tragic murder of 20-year-old Mahogany Jackson. • 23-year-old Si’Nya McCall: Felony murder, sodomy, kidnapping

Police Chief Thurmond commended the rapid response of the Birmingham Police Department, attributing their success to the assistance received from the public. “Just them giving us some of the information they have seen, they had been made aware of, getting that information to our detectives so we could follow up from there, which led to these individuals being in jail today.”

Mahogany Jackson was reported missing on a Sunday and tragically found shot to death just after 2 a.m. the following day. Two women were initially arrested on Monday afternoon in connection to Jackson’s disappearance and subsequent death.

The victim’s mother, Gail Maddox, took to social media over the weekend, revealing that Mahogany had sent urgent messages informing her family of her kidnapping. She pleaded for immediate police intervention rather than calls. The body was eventually found approximately two and a half miles from the initially reported location.

Chief Thurmond refrained from disclosing the motive and other details, citing potential harm to the investigation and the victim’s family. “We don’t believe this was a random act; Mahogany was targeted, and we will put more out when those formal arrest warrants are obtained,” stated Birmingham PD’s Public Information Officer Truman Fitzgerald earlier in the week.
