Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi said he got an invitation to attend the ceremony from the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra. He thought about it for two days and then decided to go because he wanted to promote harmony and peace in the country.
He said he started getting threatening calls since the evening of January 22, just after he attended the ceremony. He even recorded some of these calls where people threatened him and his family.
He mentioned that those who support him also love their country. He told those who are against him to consider going to Pakistan if they can’t accept his message of love and peace.
The fatwa against Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi calls him a ‘Kaafir’ and threatens his life. It’s said to be issued by Mufti Sabir Hussaini, who runs an institute named ‘Mufti classes’.
