In a devastating incident, an explosion at a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Bairagarh village, located in Harda district, has resulted in the loss of at least 11 lives and left over 100 people injured. The blast, which occurred on Tuesday morning, had a significant impact, engulfing more than 50 homes near the factory.
Sources indicate that the explosion’s magnitude was intensified by the presence of a large quantity of gunpowder within the factory premises. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep grief over the incident and vowed that those responsible for the blast would face strict consequences. He assured that the state government would take stringent action against the culprits.

Yadav, in a statement on social media, shared, “The incident of arson in the firecracker factory of Harda is heart-wrenching. In view of the seriousness of this incident, it is being monitored. Today I have postponed the night stay program of Aharwada village of Chhindwara district. We will not spare the culprits of the arson incident. The state government will take strict action against the culprits.”

The Chief Minister has instructed burn units at Indore and Bhopal Medical colleges to prepare for the influx of patients. Additionally, a green corridor has been established from Harda to Bhopal to ensure the swift transportation of victims to hospitals for treatment. Over 35 ambulances from various districts have been dispatched to Harda to address any emergencies arising from the blast.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each deceased victim and Rs 50,000 for those injured. He expressed his condolences and noted that the local administration is actively assisting those affected. President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar also conveyed their deep sorrow over the tragic incident, extending condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The blast underscores the urgent need for heightened safety measures in industries dealing with hazardous materials, and the government’s swift response reflects the severity of the situation and commitment to assisting those affected.
