The project, guided by a sense of urgency and dedication, aims to meet its April 2026 deadline. A head start has already been made with the completion of a 7-feet foundation for the forthcoming three-story station building. This marks the beginning of a transformative journey, with 53 pillars set to rise above the plinth. Before commencing the foundation work, all utilities were strategically shifted to ensure uninterrupted progress.

Aurangabad Railway Station Redevelopment

The design of the new station building’s frontal portion is inspired by the iconic Ajanta Caves, paying homage to the cultural richness of Aurangabad and its proximity to this historical site. The new station will feature a new entry and exit, and the frontal design will resemble the renowned Ajanta Caves’ pillars.

Looking ahead, the redevelopment plan includes a striking 72-meter length roof plaza over the tracks. This multifunctional space will serve as a waiting area for passengers, incorporating information kiosks and indicator boards to guide travelers to their respective platforms. The roof plaza will not only enhance passenger experience but will also be leveraged for commercial purposes, featuring eateries and shops.

As part of the modernization efforts, a 16-coach pit line for maintenance purposes is also being constructed, ensuring that operational efficiency is maintained at its peak. The project’s scope goes beyond mere redevelopment; it envisions a holistic regeneration of the city core area, offering a south-side entry to connect both sides of the city.

A key focus of the Aurangabad Railway Station Redevelopment is on improving traffic in and around the railway station, alleviating congestion, and integrating seamlessly with the city’s road network. Multi-modal integration, smooth passenger transfer between different modes of transportation, enhanced connectivity, and better mobility for rail passengers are key features of the redeveloped station.

The project also envisions convenient pick-up and drop-off areas for passengers, adequate parking facilities, and integration between the railway station and bus station. The strategic aim is to minimize operational disruptions, ensuring minimal construction over tracks.

The future Aurangabad Station, post-redevelopment, will not only be a transportation hub but also a commercial center with a parking lot. The station will be connected to the bus stand, and adjacent land will be utilized for a marketing complex, housing, and budget hotels.

Given the less developed southern side of the station, the redevelopment project will introduce several facilities to enhance that area. Features such as foot over bridges, reservation booking counters, and other passenger amenities are planned for the southern side.

In summary, the transformative journey of Aurangabad Railway Station Redevelopment represents more than just a facelift; it’s a testament to the commitment of Indian Railways to enhance travel experiences for millions. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with its nationwide reach, is redefining railway stations, setting a new standard for facilities and comfort. As Aurangabad’s railway station embarks on this monumental transformation, passengers can look forward to a future of travel comfort, efficiency, and elevated experiences. The Indian Railways, an integral part of millions of lives, is undergoing a profound makeover, and Aurangabad is at the forefront of this exciting journey.
