Before the Covid outbreak, the popular train departing from Aurangabad to Mumbai at 6 am underwent a timing revision, departing later at 9.20 am. Despite the seven-hour journey time, it remains one of the fastest connections between Aurangabad and Mumbai.

Railway activist Raj Somani expressed disappointment, stating that the Railway Board should have considered launching a distinct train on the Hingoli-Mumbai route rather than extending the existing Jalna-Mumbai Jan Shatabdi Express. He argued that a new train could have addressed the long-pending demand for improved connectivity to Mumbai.

Railway activist Raj Somani also said, The recent introduction of the Jalna-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, primarily catering to tourists with comparatively higher fares, has added fuel to the controversy. Some railway activists argue that the new train serves a different purpose and may not adequately address the demands of regular commuters.

Frequent railway passengers have accused Union Minister of State for Railways, Raosaheb Danve, of disrupting the timetable of the Jalna-Mumbai Jan Shatabdi Express for political reasons. Allegations include changing the departure timing from Jalna and now extending the route up to Hingoli, affecting the original timetable from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

In response to the accusations, Union Minister Raosaheb Danve defended the decision, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and catering to the needs of different regions.
