The primary objective of Agilitas Sports is to bring innovation and technology to every aspect of the sportswear product chain.

It’s fascinating how Abhishek Ganguly, who was associated with the Puma India team, witnessed Virat Kohli joining forces with the brand. Back in 2017, Ganguly highlighted Kohli’s significant impact on the perception of fitness in Indian cricket. According to him, Kohli played a pivotal role in emphasizing the athlete’s role and reshaping cricket to align with millennial culture, perfectly embodying the brand ethos. Ganguly also acknowledged Kohli as a youth icon with an effortless style.

The announcement of Agilitas Sports coincided with news of successfully raising funds amounting to ₹430 crore. Convergent Finance LLP, led by Harsha Raghavan, contributed ₹400 crore, while an additional ₹30 crore was secured from individual investors.

Abhishek Ganguly, now the Founder of Agilitas Sports, expressed the company’s ambition to redefine the sportswear industry by seamlessly integrating innovation and technology throughout the product value chain. The focus is on enhancing the customer experience, fostering customer-centricity, and building communities around sports and sportswear in India.

Harsha Raghavan, Managing Partner at Convergent Finance LLP, sees tremendous opportunities in India’s sportswear market, especially given the nation’s growing emphasis on fitness and the ‘Made in India’ movement. He emphasized that Convergent Finance LLP would collaborate with Agilitas in areas such as operations, capital allocation, and long-term business strategy.

Currently, sports footwear constitutes 16% of the overall footwear market in India, and it is the fastest-growing segment. Agilitas Sports aims to tap into this growth, aligning with global trends where sports footwear holds more significant shares, reaching 30%+ in emerging markets and 50%+ in mature markets. The company aspires to contribute to India’s journey towards a more active and health-conscious society.

Who is Abhishek Ganguly?

Abhishek Ganguly, currently serving as the Co-Founder & CEO at Agilitas, brings a wealth of experience to his leadership role. Prior to his current position, he held the position of Managing Director at Puma India for nine years, steering the brand’s remarkable growth in the Indian sports and lifestyle market. Abhishek also took on the role of Global Cricket Head at Puma, overseeing strategic direction and profitability for cricket-related products.

As the Executive Director of Sales & Retail, India at Puma, he played a pivotal role in building a strong and passionate team and expanding Puma’s presence in the country. His journey includes notable positions such as Director – Sales & Marketing at Puma, where he contributed to establishing Puma as the most desirable sports lifestyle brand in India.

Additionally, Abhishek has been associated with the Indian Angel Network as a member, focusing on tracking and assessing investment options, particularly in the New Age Media and Technology space. His earlier career includes a successful stint as the Regional Manager at Reebok India.

India’s renowned cricketer, Virat Kohli, is concluding his eight-year partnership with Puma India to join Agilitas Sports as its brand ambassador, as reported by CNBC TV18. This decision marks the end of a longstanding association that began in 2017 with a ₹110 crore deal between Kohli and Puma. Moving forward, Virat Kohli will become the face of Agilitas Sports, a company founded by former Puma India Managing Director, Abhishek Ganguly. The agreement entails Kohli not only endorsing the company’s products but also having a stake in Agilitas Sports.
