Transport truck strike Aurangabad -Under a new law called Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), drivers who cause a serious accident due to careless driving and then flee without telling the police or any official can face severe punishment. The law, replacing the old Indian Penal Code, says they could be jailed for up to 10 years or fined Rs 7 lakh.

Truck drivers in Maharashtra are upset about this law and protested by blocking roads at many places on Monday. Some protests turned violent. In Navi Mumbai, a policeman got hurt when truckers attacked him. The police had to use force to control the situation. Similar protests took place in areas like Mira Bhayandar, Solapur, Kolhapur, Nagpur, and Gondia.

In Nashik, tanker drivers stopped working and parked over 1,000 vehicles. They did this in Panewadi village, which has fuel depots supplying to different parts of the state. They fear that if they continue protesting, many fuel stations in Nashik will run out of fuel.

Truckers and other drivers believe the new law is too strict. They say that this law makes them scared to drive because they might get punished severely. This has led to protests in many places, causing problems for commuters and goods transportation. Some petrol pumps in places like Aurangabad have even stopped working, and people are worried about fuel supplies being affected.

The opposition parties believe that this law was quickly passed without proper discussions, leading to these problems.

Protests by drivers have taken place in different regions, including Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, where commercial bus drivers and truckers stopped working and protested against this new law.

These protests have led to delays in delivering goods, causing inconvenience to people. People fear that if the protests continue, there might be fuel shortages in various cities. However, despite these protests, businesses haven’t been seriously affected yet because drivers are still doing their jobs despite the demonstrations.
