Waluj Industrial area: Late on Saturday night, a distressing incident occurred at a hand gloves manufacturing unit in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad Waluj Industrial area. A massive fire engulfed the factory, claiming the lives of six workers.
The fire erupted around 2:15 am, startling some workers who were asleep inside. The intense heat woke them, and in a panic, they tried to flee for safety. Those who were sleeping inside the closed factory premises were the first to report the fire.
Unfortunately, the fire obstructed the exit points, making it challenging for workers to escape. Nonetheless, some managed to find safety by using a nearby tree. Fortunately, 15 workers were successfully rescued.
Upon receiving an early morning call, six fire tenders rushed to the site. The efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing, and the exact cause behind this devastating incident is yet to be determined.
A source from the firefighting team mentioned, “Our officers bravely entered the premises, and the bodies of six workers have been recovered.”
The tragic loss of six lives was confirmed by the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Most of these workers hailed from Bihar, and they were identified as Mustaq Shaikh (65), Kausher Shaikh (32), Iqbal Shaikh (18), Kakanji (55), Riazbhai (32), and Margus Shaikh (33), as confirmed by GMCH sources.
