In a recent meeting at the smart city office, Dr. Karad discussed this proposal. They previously suggested a larger plan costing around five and a half thousand crores for a continuous flyover from Shendra to Waluj, including a separate bridge for the metro. This plan was sent to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) a few months ago, but it was turned down due to insufficient funds.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has now requested that the state government reconsider the proposal for a single flyover. He directed the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to present this revised continuous flyover plan in the meeting. The Smart City initiative allocated almost Rs 7 crore to Mahametro to prepare this proposal, which included both the continuous flyover and the metro.

Shendra to Waluj Flyover

Shendra and Waluj MIDC are key destinations, roughly 34km apart and taking about 45 minutes to travel between them. Unfortunately, the NH 752I passing through Aurangabad city is often congested, causing longer commutes.

Shendra is home to several industries like Audi India, Škoda Auto, Volkswagen, Wockhardt, EtchON, Perkins Engines, and Monginis. Siemens, a major electrical goods company, established a manufacturing plant for locomotive bogies, electric units, and metro coaches in Shendra MIDC, Aurangabad.

The Maharashtra government recently decided to acquire land from Shendra to Bidkin village for the Shendra-Bidkin Mega Industrial Park under the DMIC corridor. This acquisition involves about 10,000 hectares of farmland, and work is ongoing. Additionally, there are plans for an Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shendra.

During the latest meeting, Dr. Karad instructed PWD officials to submit a proposal for a 28km continuous flyover from Shendra to Waluj, requiring a fund of Rs 3,737 crore.
