Manoj Jarange, a prominent advocate for Maratha quota rights, declared a determined journey with his supporters toward Mumbai. Their route spans significant areas like Nagpur, Ahmednagar, Pune, and Panvel in Maharashtra. Jarange, known for his unwavering resolve, previously conducted indefinite fasts and set a deadline for the government to address the community’s quota demands by December 24. Failing this, he pledged to lead an “indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan” in South Mumbai.
Detailing the ambitious march, Jarange outlined a path starting from Antarwali Sarati in Jalna on January 20, weaving through villages such as Padalshingi and Madalmoi, entering Nagpur from Matori, passing Pathardi, Karanji Ghat, Nagar, and reaching Pune district via Supa. Continuing onward, the march will traverse Wagholi, Kharadi, Chandannagar, and head towards Mumbai through Lonavala, Khandala, and Panvel.
With a staggering count of around 10 lakh vehicles set to mobilize towards Mumbai on January 20, Jarange emphasized the necessity for each vehicle to carry essential provisions like food and shelter for the marchers. Stressing on support logistics, he called for two volunteers per vehicle to cater to the needs of the team en route to Mumbai.
Maintaining peace during this march remains a critical objective for Jarange, who underscored the importance of handing over anyone attempting to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere to the authorities.
Jarange passionately appealed to the people of Mumbai, urging them to actively participate in the quota agitation and extend support to those arriving from other regions to join the movement.
Simultaneously, around ten lakh vehicles, laden with provisions for the agitators, are set to converge on Mumbai on January 20, as announced by Jarange. Speaking about the preparations, he highlighted the collective effort, mentioning that individuals from nearby districts will gather at Antarwali Sarati in Jalna to commence the march towards Mumbai. The planned movement will witness the Maratha community arriving in groups, with each group estimated to consist of 30 to 40 thousand people.
This forthcoming agitation, orchestrated by Jarange, symbolizes a united front dedicated to achieving the rightful quotas for the Maratha community. The resolute determination and collective action reflect the deep-rooted importance of this cause within the community. (with PTI inputs)
