Manoj Jarange Patil Maratha Quota Showdown: Accuses Government of Cheating Ahead of Mumbai March

Manoj Jarange Patil Maratha Quota -Shivba Sanghatana leader, accuses Maharashtra government of last-minute deceit in the ongoing Maratha reservation dispute.

Short Read: Manoj Jarange Patil, With a Mumbai march scheduled for January 20, tensions rise as the government’s promises fail to address the longstanding issue of maratha quota protests. Jarange-Patil warns against the use of force and calls for urgent action to avoid an impending all-India agitation. OBC communities oppose potential changes to existing reservations, adding complexity to the situation.

In a bold move, Shivba Sanghatana leader Manoj Jarange-Patil has accused the Maharashtra government of attempting to deceive the Maratha community with “last-minute promises” regarding the long-standing Maratha reservation issue. He reaffirmed the community’s resolve to march to Mumbai starting January 20, criticizing the government for its lack of a definitive decision on the Maratha quotas issue pending since August 2023.

Jarange-Patil expressed frustration with the government’s repeated attempts to present different proposals before intensification of their agitation, characterizing it as an effort to mislead the community over Maratha Reservation Case. Despite challenges from some ministers, he declared that the pre-planned protest procession to Mumbai would proceed as scheduled for Maratha Reservation in Maharashtra.

Reiterating his demand for the issuance of Kunbi caste certificates to 5.40 million Marathas within two days, Jarange-Patil also called for the acceptance of the demand to provide reservation to certain categories of blood relatives of these beneficiaries. He indicated a willingness to visit Mumbai with goodwill if these demands were met.

Highlighting the government’s lack of substantial action despite purported solutions being offered, Jarange-Patil cautioned against any use of force to impede the Marathas’ march from various parts of the state starting January 20. He anticipated reaching Mumbai on January 26.

Referring to previous incidents of violence during protests over Maratha Quota Protests, Jarange-Patil threatened an all-India agitation if the promised Maratha quotas, as asserted by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, are not granted. However, the government’s assurances have faced opposition from OBC communities, who are staunchly against any attempts to carve out Maratha quotas from existing OBC reservations.
