Makar Sankranti Aurangabad 2024 -With Makar Sankranti festivities just around the corner, the excitement of kite flying has reached a fever pitch in the city and surrounding areas. However, this enthusiasm is turning into a safety concern, especially for children between the ages of 8 and 14.
The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has taken a significant step to enhance safety during kite flying. The court has directed authorities to take legal action against individuals using nylon strings for kites. This decision comes after concerns were raised about the potential dangers posed by such strings, especially for children.
According to recent reports by Prasad Joshi, the High Court’s order includes the confiscation of nylon manja if found in use by children. Furthermore, a thorough investigation will be conducted to trace the source of these strings. Parents found involved in obtaining nylon strings for their children will face legal consequences, as the court emphasized the need to register offences against them. Additionally, shops selling nylon manja will be sealed to curb their availability.
The two-member bench of the High Court highlighted the importance of immediate action, urging the police authorities and local administration to conduct thorough operations. The court’s decision follows a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) initiated in response to reports by TOI in 2020.
This move by the High Court reflects a commitment to addressing safety concerns during kite flying, especially focusing on eliminating the risks associated with the usage of nylon strings. It sets a precedent for proactive measures to ensure a safer environment during festive celebrations.
